As you may have noticed from my Loot Crate posts, I’m a sucker for subscriptions boxes. I’m always looking for new ones to try, so when my friend introduced me to Nerd Block, I was immediately smitten. So smitten that I asked them if I could review a box and they told me yes!

On the surface Nerd Block seems like your ordinary subscription box, but it’s not. What makes Nerd Block so special is it has options! Four options to be exact.

Classic Nerd Block, for the nerdy adults out there. They call it “comic con in a box”. Every month you will receive a t-shirt and a bunch of geek themed items from brand like Star Wars, Marvel, Nintendo, and more. The regular Nerd Block retails for $19.99 with $6.00 US shipping. (Nerd Block is located in Canada)

Then they have Horror Block, a box full of zombies, monsters, and other gruesome items. Horror Block also comes with a t-shirt and, like the classic Nerd Block, it retails for $19.99 with $6.00 shipping.

Now I bet you are wondering if there was something out there just for the kids, well, there is. Nerd Block Jr. is a box designed just for kids ages 6-11. Nerd Block Jr. comes in two options, girl or boy. The girl box contains items from brands like Barbie, Monster High, My Little Pony, and more! The boy box features brands like Marvel, Nintendo, and DC Comics. The Jr. boxes cost $13.99 plus $6.00 US shipping.

For review purposes, I received a Nerd Block Jr. Girl box. I picked a Jr. box over the adult because I just love children’s toys! And I went girl because I adore Barbie, Disney, and other items you find in the pink aisle of the toy store. And boy, I was NOT disappointed! So without further ado, let’s get on with the unboxing!

Since the Nerd Blocks come from Canada, there is a short custom’s list on the packing label. It gives you a nice little preview about what’s inside. My list said Snow White, Brave, Barbie, and Crayola, a bunch of my favorite things!

The items that were actually inside were:

  • Funko Pop Minis – Snow White & Grumpy – An adorable set of mini vinyl figures that I can’t wait to display in my studio.

  • Brave Plush Brother Bear – if you are familiar with the movie Brave, then you are aware that there are three small bears in the film. This plush is one of those bears. He’s already sitting on my bookcase with some of my other Pixar collectibles.

  • Mega Bloks Barbie Build ’n Style – A small 30 piece interlocking brick set featuring outfits and accessories to dress the mini Barbie. Kids will have loads of fun dressing Barbie.

  • Crayola Minnie Mouse Mini Coloring Pages with Markers – A set of 80 mini coloring pages and 6 washable markers for hours go coloring fun.

  • The set also included a sample of a Baby Filly Princess Blind Bag Mini Figure and a package of Topps Wacky Packages Stickers. The Baby Filly Princess is a little royal horse about the size of a quarter. I’d never seen them before so I’m looking forward to finding out more about them. As for the Wacky Packages Stickers, I grew up on the first series of these and I’m thrilled to see they still make them! If you’ve never heard of Wacky Packages Stickers, they are similar to baseball cards in size and each card contains a sticker of an every day brand warped into something weird, like Ditz Crackers instead of Ritz Crackers.

Overall, I was beyond thrilled with my Nerd Block Jr. box. So much in fact that I went and subscribed to the Nerd Block Jr. boys box! I’m looking forward to checking that out. From there I’ll decide if I want to keep a subscription to the boys or girl boxes. The Jr. boxes really cater to what kids like today and really are perfect for the 6-11 age group, or the adult kids at heart.
